Emergency Medicine Point-of -Care Ultrasound Workshop

This 1 day intensive emergency medicine point-of-care ultrasound workshop provides excellent hands on experience for both novice and advance providers. At the end of workshop, participants will have gained thorough knowledge in the ultrasound application in emergency medicine.

Objectives

1. Understand basic ultrasound physics, as it pertains to the practical aspects of performing point of care ultrasound.

2. Understand the basic functions of the machine, such as adjusting depth, gain and focus.

3. Perform the FAST exam

4. Recognize a positive FAST exam

5. Understand the indications, false positives and false negatives of FAST exams

6. Perform the four basic cardiac POCUS views and recognize a normal cardiac POCUS

7. Recognize poor systolic function, RV enlargement and pericardial effusion

8. Perform an abdominal aorta POCUS

9. Recognize a normal POCUS of the aorta

10. Recognize an abdominal aortic aneurysm on POCUS

11. Perform a POCUS of the IVC

12. Interpret an IVC POCUS as it pertains to fluid tolerance

13. Perform a thoracic POCUS

14. Recognize a normal thoracic POCUS

15. Recognize lung sliding, pleural effusion, pneumonia and interstitial syndrome

16. Recognize vein from artery on POCUS

17. Guide a needle into a vessel dynamically utilizing POCUS

No refunds are allowed for cancellations made anytime if the day of cancellation falls with 60 days from the day of the course. There are no refunds for no-shows; Colleague substitutions are welcome without penalty for the registered course.
