Pediatric Regional Anesthesia Workshop

This 1 day intensive ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia workshop provides excellent hands on scanning (1:4 faculty:participant ratio) and needling practice to all participants. To minimize didactics and to maximize hands-on scanning, all participants are provided with pre-course material to prepare before the workshop. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have acquired thorough knowledge in common and more advanced regional anesthesia techniques applicable to the pediatric population.

OBJECTIVES

As a result of participating in this activity, physicians should be able to:

• Able to use the ultrasound transducer efficiently

• Understand the differences in the linear vs. curvilinear ultrasound and its uses

• To identify the anatomy of common peripheral nerve block placement

• Understand when a block is appropriate

• Differentiate anatomy of adults vs pediatrics (real estate limitations)

• Discuss local anesthetic and adjuvant deposits and dosages
